Tips for Swimmers:

Passing the Assessment the first time

Know the strokes: Be prepared to perform all four strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. If you are nervous, remember that we are not looking for perfection, but rather an understanding of how to perform the strokes.

You will not be asked to perform a flip-turn or starting dive. Though you will be expected to swim a complete length of the pool (which may be in long course meters). Lastly, be sure you have learned how to perform the breaststroke kick, as this is the one skill most often lacking among new swimmers.

Punctuality: Be on time with your goggles and proper swimming attire.

Attitude: Be quiet, attentive and respectful when waiting for directions by the coach. Coaches want to see how well you follow instructions.

Desire: Display a good attitude by showing the coach that you WANT to be there and that you are eager and able to learn.
