All-Star Dual Meet:
FGC vs. FL Swimming
April 2-3, Indian River
The annual All-Star meet is unique because it allows the top (14&U age) swimmers from throughout the Florida Gold Coast to compete against the best of northern Florida swimming. For two days a year, competitors become teammates, rivalries are put on hold, and swimmers from teams across the Gold Coast wear the same uniform and become a single team.
To qualify for the All-Star delegation sent to represent the Gold Coast, swimmers are chosen from the spring Junior Olympics. Swimmers who place 4th and above are eligible to compete. This year, the Comets sent its largest team consisting of nine swimmers.
Tyler Sell (12) won the 11-12 age group (boy's and girls) most valuable award as he won every event he swam. Tyler went best times in five out of six events he swam.
"Tyler was not seeded first in all of his events, but all of his finals were impressive and he won by quite a bit," noted coach Oxner.
Tyler set new team records in all but one event, the 100 free which he currently owns with a 52.91.
"He had the mentality that no one is going to beat him...and he was right as he crushed the competition," said coach Oxner.
